Local Legacy of Healthy Smiles
Our practice was founded in 1974 by Dr. Martin “Marty” Steigner, right here in Petaluma! For over 40 years, our practice has always focused on prevention, education, and positive experiences to promote a lifetime of good oral health. Dr. Raymond A. Ramos, or “Dr. Ray” as the kids call him, joined the practice in 1999 and continues to strive for the best experience possible each and every time your child visits our office.
Dr. Steigner retired from practicing dentistry in 2015. When reflecting on the 15 years Dr. Ramos practiced alongside Dr. Steigner he states, “I am honored to carry on Marty’s legacy. I am truly grateful to have him as a partner, mentor, and friend.” If you run into Marty around town, we hope you will congratulate him on his retirement. You might even see him in the office, he loves to stop by!

Our Mission
Our mission at Raymond A. Ramos, DDS & Associates is to provide children and their families with the tools needed to be successful in taking care of their oral health. Early and consistent exposure to the dentist as a child allows us to create a positive relationship with oral care that will last a lifetime. It is a privilege to be part of the TEAM that supports you in raising the next generation of SMILES!
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?
Many people ask why it is so important to visit a pediatric dentist. The answer is simple – EXPERIENCE. While many dentists may treat children, pediatric dentists complete two extra years of specialty training after dental school to understand the unique needs of pediatric patients.
At Raymond A. Ramos, DDS & Associates, we understand that a child's experience during their first several dental visits will influence how they react to dentistry throughout his or her lifetime. A positive experience now can set the tone for ongoing regular dental care throughout their adult life. Our goal is to give each child a positive dental experience, EVERY TIME. Our patients nearing graduation often end their appointment with the famous question . . . . . “CAN WE COME BACK ONE MORE TIME...PLEEEEASE?”
Our patients love visiting our office because our facility is geared towards kids! Our beach theme is a nod to Dr. Ray’s Southern California roots. Our famous “bubble wall” that divides our exam and cleaning area is a patient favorite and provides a soothing “zen” experience, if you can hear the water over all the laughter! Our exam chairs are designed for kids, although our older patients can often dangle their feet off the end! Treatment rooms have TV’s in the ceilings and wireless headphones with an endless collection of kid appropriate movies to help distract them during longer appointments.
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
The AAPD recommends that your child visits a pediatric dentist when they get their first tooth or by their first birthday. The sooner we see their smiling faces the better! Early visits allow us to lay a foundation for good habits and help prevent possible issues before they occur.
If your child is older than one and has not been seen by a dentist yet, DON’T WORRY! Schedule an appointment today! Our loving and highly skilled staff will walk you and your child through a fun and informative first visit without judgement.
From their first tooth, to their high school graduation and everything in between, we are here for you and your child every step of the way! To learn more or schedule a dental exam, call (707) 763-1548.
About Us
Our Board Certified dentists are Diplomats of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Becoming a diplomat is a voluntary, yet rigorous process of studying and examinations. It shows a commitment to education and excellence in the field.
After dental school, Pediatric Dentists complete an additional two years of specialty training to understand the uniqueness of working with children. Along with a focus on the fun and ever changing oral makeup of a pediatric patient, our Board Certified Pediatric dentists are trained to respond to and respect their physical, emotional, and developmental needs as well. Not everyone can work with kids, but we do and WE LOVE IT! We pride ourselves on being part of the many professionals that make up your child’s TEAM.
